In the Spring of 2003 several Northwest sailors began collaborating in an effort to find a class which offered speed, simplicity, performance, and a strong fleet.  The A-Cat was our boat of choice, and once word spread that a fleet was forming in the Northwest several others became interested. 

By the start of the 2004 season 12 A-cats were in the Oregon and Washington area with several other sailors looking for boats.  Because of the caliber of sailor the boat was able to attract in less than one year we now have the most competitive catamaran fleet in the Northwest. 

In Portland we have 6 boats stored at Vancouver Lake Sailing Club, where we race weekly from March to November.  In the Seattle area there are four active boats on Lake Washington at the Sail Sandpoint Center . We also have three boats in Bellingham .

Besides these local clubs, we race in regional open regattas between Eugene and Vancouver B.C.  Our biggest problem has been trying to decide which events to attend! 

In the future we hope to build our fleet further and start holding some of our own regatta events.  However, we will always participate in open regional regattas.
