A-Class Measurement Guidelines
The A-Class Catamaran was established in 1956 as a "design" class by the IYRU, making it one of the oldest and most active catamaran classes in the world. The simple class construction rules (like length, width, and sail area - see Measure Guidelines above) has allowed designers all over the world to create and produce boats of outstanding performance and quality.

Over the years the A-Class Catamaran has evolved into a pure high-tech boat, constructed from materials such as Carbon Fiber and Kevlar, and is known as the "Formula One" amongst sailing boats (particularly in Europe). Speeds exceeding 20 knots are possible and the boat has superb handling characteristics. If you are looking for a fun class to race or sail, this is it. At 165 lbs. (75 Kg) fully rigged with sail, the A-Class boat is probably the fastest most efficient singled handed boat in the world.

The A-Cat has been growning in popularity internationally and has attracted many of the top sailers in the world.
